While biking on the back roads of Waimanalo I noticed the wood rose vine. The large yellow flowers develop into these translucent, almost wood-like pods that contain the developing seeds.

I have seen wonderful displays of this ornamental pineapple at Foster Botanical Garden and the Dole Cannery Plantation on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
